I am a self-taught photographer specializing in family, lifestyle, commercial, product, and creative portrait photography. I live in San Diego, California with my husband, Demetrius, my two fast growing man cubs (Audio, 14 and Nautas, 11), and 5 cats. Yes, really – 5 cats!! Their names are Boris, Brutus, Gomez, Juno, and Blixa – so I guess it is safe to say that I am also a crazy cat lady.
I am constantly learning and fine tuning my photographic style, but I like to refer to my family and lifestyle shoots as “real life photography.” I like to be in the moment and capture the most unsolicited honest emotions and document authentic connections between people. I love candids and outtakes, and I will always choose emotion over technicality. So if you want to keep it real, then I’m your girl.
I love collaborating with other people, too. If you have a wild and crazy photoshoot idea that you want to manifest, need a creative headshot, some photos to populate your new business website, or just want to take some photos with your cat, I am open to any and all photoshoot collabs. I definitely have my own style and point of view, but I am also a chameleon in the sense that I can change and adapt to my client’s needs, which comes in handy when doing commercial, product, and food photography. I often collaborate with my graphic/web designer husband on projects for our design studio, Rose Red Creative.
I am definitely one of those people who needs to be constantly creating something and offering some sort of beauty to the world. If I am not taking photos, I can be found playing in bands around town, or crafting and gardening at home. I believe everyone is an artist and that life is an art – the way you choose to live your life is truly an underappreciated and unspoken art form.
It is in this way that photography has been a very personal journey for me that I have learned so much about myself from. It has helped me “frame” the world in a way that makes sense to me and continually reasserts all that is important in my life – my kids, my family, the time I spend with the people I love, and all the beautiful moments in between that collide together to make up this life. Photography gives tangibility and permanence to these passing moments. This is why I do what I do, and this is why I feel it is so important to constantly document your life and the world around you.
